TWENTY-FIVE years festival which TWENTY organized by our relationship to the Onze + association. Is this really a good thing to do but celebrate this double anniversary, because beyond a small circle of close friends and collaborators who lived almost directly succession of editions, it ultimately has little meaning for the majority of the public. What demand priority is to continue to be served in good music, so in quality concerts, whatever it enumerating the names over time!
And yet, somewhere we are quite proud of this stubbornness in wanting to celebrate the “real jazz”, to paraphrase the late Pope Hugues Panassié, year nearly year. After so many fine concerts with jazz greats, so let’s enthusiastic and determined to present the menu the next edition in the form of a small inventory somewhat anarchic.
- A year after receiving it for a memorable concert in opening a superb film about the great Charles Lloyd “The Monk and the Mermaid”
- After the cinematic vision of their big brother, the current masters of the instrument breath, symbol of jazz, closer to the human voice, tenor saxophone Joe Lovano, Dave Liebman, Joshua Redman but Walter Smith III and Yvan Ischer
- A trio of musicians Basel, reagents devil to talk with Dave Liebman: VEIN
- An icon of jazz fusion electric bass player and composer, gifted, made history by calling for Miles Davis ‘Tutu’: Marcus Miller
- A bunch of seven of the most talented bassists romands for disrespectful tribute to their colleague and friend who died recently: Popol Lavanchy
- Two virtuoso musicians but deeply whose youngest whole future ahead of him trumpeter Ambrose Akinmusire, Dave Douglas
- A pair of World, legendary Swiss reputation, free improvisation: Irène Schweizer and Pierre Favre
- Another pair of young lions teeth long creative ambition fueled by extraordinary talents Samuel Huguenin and Jean-Lou Treboux
- A muezzin engineering and sucroît oud flanked by a horde of armed Slavs Strings celestial music: Dhafer Youssef
- Romand a quartet dripping groove with a Hammond organ instead of the heart: Pierre-Luc Vallet – Claude Schneider Hammond 4tet
- A revitalized Espacejazz: friendliness, good food and beautiful music for no money. In addition to the beautiful thematic program set up by our friends Gilles and Julie for the second evening parties at the beginning of them, young or jazzwomen jazz workshops of HEMU with which the festival has partnered.
- A 25th even more remarkable that on this occasion will be published a commemorative book, hopefully soon, will be in every home of Romandie.
It only remains to be hoped that the party is at the height of the event: as rare as beautiful!
