Over the past two decades, Freddie Hendrix has become one of the most in demand trumpeters in Jazz, and beyond. Also an accomplished composer, arranger and educator, the Teaneck, New Jersey native’s skill and versatility has resulted in him working with a wide array of performers that range from the Count Basie Orchestra and The Christian McBride Big Band, to Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder and Alicia Keys. He played in Dizzy Gillespie All-Star Big Band, Dizzy Gillespie All-Stars and Dizzy Gillespie Afro-Cuban Experience.
In the Hot Jazz series he will play a tribute to Dizzy with the rising star and a phenomenon on alto saxophone Erena Terakubo. Erena is graduated Berklee College Of Music and had the honor to perform and record with legends such as Kenny Barron, Ron Carter & Jimmy Cobb.
On the piano, the award-winning jazz pianist Tamir Hendelman who has performed with the Jeff Hamilton Trio, the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra and Barbara Morrison. He also leads his own trio and his debut CD “Playground” features him in this trio setting. Tamir has recorded for John Pizzarelli, and Diana Krall. He is also featured on Natalie Cole’s “Still Unforgettable” and Barbara Streisand’s upcoming recording.
